Jason Mercier claimed the Euro 50 000 main prize in the European Poker Tour Champion of Champions event this week, besting 50 rivals.
The twenty-four-year-old pro ended the Euro 100 000 prize pool free-roll in a heads up against PCA champion Galen Hall after the two survived a field of former EPT champions.
"It was a tough tournament," said Mercier after beating Hall. "Really good players came out and when we got deep I did think at one point that I was going to bubble it."
Hall's runner-up finish gave him a payday of Euro 25 000 in Season 8 buy-ins.
