CELEBRITY POKER PLAYER FILES FOR DISMISSAL (Update)

Source: bluffed.netHollywood director claims Texas Hold'em not illegal under Californian law Celebrity Hollywood Director Nick Cassavetes has filed a motion to dismiss a lawsuit brought against him, reports TMZ, that is connected to an alleged illegal gambling ring that ran multi-million dollar underground poker games in the United States. Litigation claims against Cassavetes were brought by the bankruptcy trustees of Brad Ruderman a hedge fund investor, who is currently in jail for a ponzi scheme. Ruderman allegedly led the poker sessions losing millions of dollars of investor money. Bankruptcy trustees are attempting to seize some of these winnings to pay off creditors (see previous reports). Along with Cassavetes, other high profile names reportedly involved in the high stakes Texas Hold'em poker sessions include Tobey Maguire, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Gabe Kaplan. Cassavetes has filed the motion to dismiss on the grounds that Californian law only prohibits banking or percentage games singling out roulette, blackjack, hokey-pokey and others but does not identify Texas Hold'em as one of these games.
