Source: bluffed.netSchreiner bests a field of 127. German poker pro Marcel Schreiner proved he has what it takes over three days of play in the 2025 PokerStars.net Asia Pacific Poker Tour Queenstown main event over the weekend, holding the chip lead for much of the action. For Schreiner it was his first live tournament win and biggest payday yet, although he has previously placed in two Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure tourneys for much smaller prizes. Schreiner survived a field of 127 and a final table comprising Matt Yates, John Waterman, Carl Knox, Daniel Laidlaw, Tom Grigg, Xiao Dong Xia, Hugh Cohen and Jonathan Karamalikis before ending up in a four hour heads up tussle with local player Matt Yates for the main prize of NZ$94,300 and the title. Yates and Schreiner were pretty much even in stacks when the heads up commenced, but Schreiner gradually wore his opponent down and two hours in established his dominance but for a brief change well into the contest and on the biggest hand of the night, when Yates took the pot and briefly regained the chip lead. Unfortunately for Yates, his opponent was unfazed by the setback and battled his way methodically back into the chip lead and final victory. Yates's impressive runner-up performance was recognised by a second placing check for NZ$60,000.
