Even Pokerstars loses ground

Online poker traffic continued its eight-week-long decline last week, losing another 3.5 percent, according to the independent online poker monitor PokerScout.

In another dismal week, even Pokerstars lost ground as its new Zoom speed poker initiative eased, although it still generated 25% of all cash game action on the giant site.

PokerScout points out that traffic is down 11% since late February compared to a 5% drop over the same pre-Black Friday timespan last year.

Svenska Spel and Bodog delivered the best improvements over the week, jumping three and two places up the leaderboard respectively, whilst Everest Poker's French site dropped 3 positions, and PartyPoker.fr dropped two places.

Looked at on a year-on-year basis, PokerScout reports that online poker traffic (ex-Italy) has decreased by 36% in the last year.

The main sites of PokerStars, PartyPoker and the iPoker Network continue to inhabit the top three spots, with Merge Poker, 888Poker and Bodog Poker showing remarkable gains of 69, 49 and 31% respectively.

The International Poker Network and Ongame continued to languish, down 52% and 32 percent.
