Young Ukrainian player claims his second WSOP bracelet

Ukrainian poker pro Oleksii Kovalchuk is having a great World Series of Poker this year, already cashing in three events and winning a companion to the No Limit Hold'em Six Handed bracelet which he won last year, along with $689,739.

His current bracelet comes from event 42 - $2,500 buy-in Limit Omaha / Seven-Card Stud Hi/Low 8/OB, a competition which pulled in 393 talented players this year.

Kovalchuk claimed a main prize worth $228,014 along with bracelet number two, bringing his career tournament earnings to almost $2 million in a string of major international events in which he has repeatedly cashed.

The final table saw Kovalchuk taking on George Danzer, Mark Gregorich, Daniel Ratigan, Yuval Bronshtein, Norman Chad, Wing Wong and Tim Burt after three days of top level poker in a difficult event.

Having eliminated between them all opposition, Kovalchuk and George Danzer entered the heads up with the Ukrainian holding the chip lead. Danzer mounted a serious challenge and took the chip lead, only to give it back around level 27-28, losing the match shortly thereafter after a big showdown.

Danzer's very creditable performance was rewarded with a runner up prize of $140,825.
