TELEVISION PRODUCER TAKES DOWN WORLD POKER TOUR GRAND PRIX

Source: bluffed.netA hard-won Euro 400,000 goes to Matt Salsberg The weekend saw the conclusion of the World Poker Tour Season XI Grand Prix de Paris at the Aviation Club in Paris, with television producer Matt Salsberg, who held the chip lead at the start of the final day, emerging as the victor. Salsberg certainly did not have an easy ride, however, with the Danish ace Theo Jorgensen taking the lead and holding it for much of the heads up before being overtaken and then eliminated late in the game, taking home a consolatory Euro 264,600. Surviving an original entry field of 228, the final table comprised Matt Salsberg on 1,757,000; Mohsin Charania 1,435,000; Timothy Adams 1,198,000; Theo Jorgensen 1,169,000; Philipp Gruissem 776,000 and Fabian Quoss 570,000. Jorgenson's deceptively low position at the start soon changed when he won a massive hand against Timothy Adams to take the chip lead, and he skilfully leveraged that as he advanced through the field until he entered the heads up holding a slight lead over Salsberg. He widened that as the game progressed and for a while it appeared that Jorgensen would take the game with a 4 to 1 advantage, but then Salsberg doubled and continued to build momentum until he regained the chip lead and was able to finally despatch his opponent. The $400,000 win was Salsberg's biggest yet, way surpassing his formerly top prize of $100,000, and including a $25,000 seat in the WPT World Championship in May of 2025.
