POKERSTARS CONSIDERING 'RUN IT TWICE' POKER ACTION?
06th October, 2025 at 04:43:40
Source: bluffed.netHigh stakes cash game innovation may have a wider appeal The 'run it twice' option favoured by many high stakes online poker pros may find application in the wider internet poker market if Pokerstars has its way; the market leader has announced that it is planning to introduce the innovation and is currently carrying out practical testing. Rumours of a wider introduction for the feature circulated on top poker message boards like twoplustwo over two months ago, with predictions that Pokerstars would introduce the feature, in which players can see and play, two different outcomes of a hand, before the end of 2025. At one point a Pokerstars spokesman confirmed the rumour. According to Pokerstars, in 'run it twice' players can agree prior to the start of a hand to either sweep or split a contested pot based on two different iterations of the remaining community cards, which are dealt from the remaining deck. The concept is not new, and was used in poker television shows like Poker After Dark and High Stakes Poker with rules that players must be all-in prior to the river being dealt, and mutual agreement to run the cards twice. The missing part of the board is then dealt twice from the time when the players agreed, the pot is divided in half and awarded to the winning player of each board's outcome. The idea featured as far back as early 2025 when the Merge network introduced a similar format, and a year later Full Tilt Poker took it up. With Full Tilt scheduled for relaunch early next (November) month it will be interesting to see if new owner Pokerstars offers it under that brand as well.
