With the final break from Ongame, parent party positions Party Poker as second only to Pokerstars

Just a day after Bwin players from former subsidiary Ongame Network were migrated, party Digital Entertained subsidiary Party Poker.com has seen traffic soar 45 percent, reports the independent online poker monitoring site Pokerscout.

The huge boost to the Party Poker player liquidity pool positions Party Poker ahead of market leaders Full Tilt Poker and the iPoker network, and second only to Pokerstars, the monitor notes.

When Bwin Interactive and the Party Gaming group merged 18 months ago, industry observers predicted that the online poker operations of both groups - Bwin's Ongame and Party's Party Poker, would have to be rationalised to avoid duplication. It was decided that Ongame would be disposed of, but this appeared to take longer than anticipated, with offers that did not mature.

In October this year the Amaya Gaming group finally took Ongame off Bwin's hands, setting the scene for a migration of Bwin's Ongame players to Party Poker.

Bwin has enhanced the attraction of Party Poker with a revamped affiliate program and on-going promotions, and the party group has inked a UK collaborative agreement with the American social gaming and poker giant Zynga, which bodes well for future cross-marketing.

Full Tilt Poker is currently suffering double digit weekly declines in traffic following its launch in November under the new ownership of Pokerstars, but is still strong enough to pose a challenge.

Playtech's iPoker remains competitive, too with its recent partnership arrangement with Everest and several major operators on its network; there has been recent speculation that Betfair may leave Ongame and move to iPoker, further strengthening its competitive position (see previous reports).
