Rep. Davies ready to go, says staffer.

Representative Tina Davies in Pennsylvania is ready to go with her proposal to position the state among the leaders in legalised online poker in the United States, where Delaware, Nevada and New Jersey all now have legalisation laws on their books.

Davies gave notice early this year that she intended to introduce an online poker legalisation bill to ensure that Pennsylvania was not left behind in the trend toward online gambling, seeking to maintain her state's position as the second biggest gambling market in the nation (see previous reports).

On Wednesday a staff member told the publication Card Player that Davies was well prepared and intended to launch her proposal next week, suggesting that a licence fee of $16.7 million and reasonable tax rates be imposed on operators.

Card Player notes that with 12.7 million residents, Pennsylvania could offer the largest pool of poker players if it joins Nevada, Delaware and New Jersey and included interstate compacts in its internet poker law.
