KID POKER SCORES HIS FIRST MAJOR ONLINE TOURNAMENT VICTORY

Source: bluffed.netTwitter excitement over popular poker pro's big win Popular international poker pro Daniel "Kid Poker" Negreanu has won millions in live poker tournaments around the world, but a relatively modest online win generated almost as much excitement and congratulatory messages on Twitter over the weekend. Negreanu tweeted his delight at winning the main prize of $216,000 in the $5,200 buy-in Pot Limit Omaha Six-Max event during the currently running Pokerstars Spring Championship of Online Poker, reporting: "Won my first ever major online poker tournament. This last two months has been the sickest run of my career. So thankful and so fun!" That generated a storm of supportive and congratulatory tweets from many big-name players as the news spread that Negreanu had bested an entry field of 179 hopefuls in the event, holding the chiplead going into the final table, a typically internet global affair with players from Russia, Finland, Canada, Austria and Britain all keen to mix it up. That culminated in a heads up in which Negreanu faced player FA_Morgoth. Negreanu held a massive 11 to 2 chip lead over his last remaining opponent, and the heads up phase of play was soon over, leaving FA_Morgoth with a runner-up prize of $148,950. The "sick" period referred to in Negreanu's victory tweet was a reference to his fifth World Series of Poker winner's bracelet (and a cool million plus dollars) in the recent APAC main event (see previous report).
